NDLacquers Spring Polish Collection 2014

Hi my fellow polish addicts!

Sorry that I have been MIA, I've had a lot of work in developing my brand.

I wanted to share my vision behind my newest 6 piece collection and how I came about it.

I do a lot of research to see what trends and what the "it" colors are of the season.

If you've read my blog, I've discussed the spring trends of 2014. What really stood out to me where the bright pastel trend. I also knew I wanted to include a white and an orange as these are going to be prevalent colors of the season. 

In developing this line, I thought of spring flowers, how these are normally one of the first signs of spring and how they emerge from darkness. I researched on which spring flowers would match my color palette. 

The polish that came to mind would have to be strong, yet delicate. The more you layer the polish, the stronger it will get. Just like the flowers get stronger as the days go by. The shimmer in the polish represent the shimmer those flowers give out when reflected under the sun.

So let's start,

First up, we have "Camellia" a pastel pink with rose shimmers. It becomes opaque in 2 coats but I like the 3 coat effect. Here, I've paired it with some glitter placements. 

 

Next up we have "Hyacinth" this is one is hard to photograph but it's so pretty irl. It's a pastel blue/purple with blue shimmers

Next up we have "Tulip" a pastel orange with gold shimmers. This is a crowd favorite!

Now we move on to "lilac" a pastel purple/lavender with lavender shimmers. 

Here we have "Lily" a soft white with scattered holo and I've topped it off with "Spring Bouquet" a glitter topper in pastel and iridescent glitters in varying shapes and sizes.

Lacquer Lust

Today I will be talking about my first order from lacquer lust. 

I was fortunate enough to snag a birthstone polish before they all sold out!

Jo from lacquer lust set the time for the release and I put my alarm to catch it on time. 

Quick tip, make sure that you know what you want before so that you don't waste time looking for the right polish and loose out on your buy!

Although she had many orders, my polish was shipped within a couple of days.

It arrived safe and sound in a cute little box. Inside the box, the polish was wrapped in bubble wrap and beautifully folded into a lacquer lust tissue paper and tied with a black bow (how classy and professional!) the box had my packing slip, some pretty shredded paper for padding and a well made business card. 

The polish purchased is the September color Sapphire and it's a beautiful gray/green/blue color, with a beautiful linear holographic effect also called spectraflair (which is really expensive and hard to come by) and micro blue flakies (also an expensive pigment) the polish was about $12 and shipping $2.50

The labels on the bottle are very cute and professionally made. I especially love the heart shaped label on the bottom. 

As you can see, the polish is absolutely stunning under any type of light source, I shot the pictures with flash to get a more vivid picture.

The polish goes on very smooth, the handle and brush are high quality and the polish was filled to the top. 

When not in light the polish can become a bit dull but we find light sources everywhere so that doesn't happen very much and when it does give this glow everyone around me is admiring the polish!

In conclusion, this is now my favorite indie brand and I absolutely love Sapphire and hope to get more soon!

Daily Charme marks my first indie polish :) I've always been intrigued by their polishes and charms so I decided to get some of my own!

Wilshire is a beautiful glitter topper with tons of iridescent glitters in deifferent hex sizes, squares and hearts. The colors shift in pink, purple, silver and orange as well as white hex. 

You will need a good shake to engage the bigger sized glitter but the brush picks up plenty. 

I love how their brush is see through, kinda neat. 

For the metallic gradient, I painted my nails with two layers of silver metallic polish and let that dry. Then I applied a mixture of black polish and black metallic polish in a circle on a sponge, the I just dabbed the top if my nail with the mixture two times. At the end I topped it with wilshire and applied a layer of seche vite.

I've always heard so much about DL polishes and now I know why. 

The one attached is a deep violet red with tons of magenta shifting micro glitter. 

The polish dries textured and I would suggest two coats if seche vite. 

The polish really comes to life in the sun or any light source, it's like you have a party on your fingertips, therefore it's extremely hard to photograph. 

It's rich in color and here I am wearing two thin coats and one coat of seche. 

Spring Collection 2014

I'm always really interested in what's news and trending before it's time. I seem to have a nick for the colors that are about to trend. Don't you ever feel that you keep looking for the an exact color for months and then, all of the sudden, this color is prominent in all stores.

What I'm most excited about it how the fashion industry has taken a great stance for nail art. They are highlighting this as the "it" finish to complete any look. Besides color trending, the nail art community is growing at a fast pace and making a stamp as a strong category of its own.

I also have a strong love/hate relationship to the fact that the big brands are following suit in the indie brand polishes. All of the sudden these weird mix of glitters and finishes are available at a mass market. Yes, I love it due to the fact that now these finishes are so accessible, but I dislike the fact that they are robbing the indie feel making them more mainstream than special.

Back to what the post was about, spring trends.

Embellished Whites
There was a lot of whites and nudes with crisp finishes such as rhinestones and pearl accents. I want to try a white base with white matte glitter, let's see how that turns out.

Moon mani
Moon manis are keeping strong but this time try it with nudes such as beiges with white moons etc. the moons are a bit bigger now so don't be afraid to exaggerate.

Metallics
Whether you go for a full metallic nail, ombres or accent metallics, this season you will see it everywhere.

Striped nails
Cutouts, vertical lines, horizontal lines. Keep it simple but lines will be a dominant feature.

Unexpected Pastels
Pastels that are not really your typical go to such as orange, hot pink etc. Think Easter with a twist.



What I see most in the fashion world for nails is simplicity, you don't have to be a master painter to be on trend, just get yourself some nice nail art brushes (I got mine at amazon) and learn how to o glitter gradients, works every time ;)

Winter Collection 2013

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my newest collection that will be sold on etsy towards the end of this month. My polishes are inspired by winter phenomenons.

First up we have "Evergreen" a mint green polish with turquoise holo hex in various sizes. Evergreen in botany is a plant that leaves in all four seasons, always green. It could be worn alone with 2-3 coats or over a similar green for more depth.

 

 

 

Next is a beautiful phenomenon called "Aurora" which in nature is a light display in the sky, particularly in high altitude. Being from Sweden we would normally be able to catch these up north where my relatives lived (Noland) and the sight is just breathtaking. These beauties are very hard to catch too and it only lasts for a bit then they disappear in a black hole. My polish is inspired by the pink Aurora, therefore you will see a variety of rose and lilac glitters in different shapes and sizes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lastly we have "Glisten" I named this polish after the wonders of snow and ice, how light reflects it and the beauty of something so simple. This polish has micro holo glitters, micro silver squares, silver shreds and teal holo hex.
